I’ve enjoyed many of MJ Fields Men of Steel series and was happy to see them make an appearance in Memphis Black. It is not necessary to have read the Men of Steel books beforehand.
While I do love my rocker romance books I have to say that at the beginning the Memphis and his bandmate were a little off-putting with their manwhoring way and language. Normally this doesn’t bother me but much of the time in the beginning it seems unnecessary and in your face. Maybe I’m getting old but there were somethings that I didn’t understand the slang or logo of. It took me longer than normal to start to like Memphis Black.
Memphis Black and his bandmates make up the band Steel Total Destruction under Xavier Steel’s company. After being on tour as an opening act, they head to Florida for a two-week vacation before they have to start back to work.
Tallia Priest has had a crush on the boy next door turned rock star since she was a little girl. She’s also best friend’s with his sister who has convinced Tally to go to Florida with her for a little vacation. Tally gets there first and gets to experience the band and Memphis like never before.
Memphis was immediately attracted to Tallia but knew he shouldn’t start something with his sister’s best friend who was a preacher’s daughter and way too innocent. Whenever Tally would hear a swear word she would blush and giggle. Memphis knew that she was too good for him and his bandmates. Having always protected her since she was a little girl, Memphis wanted to make sure that none of the guys got close to her.
This is a fast paced book with a twist in that I did not see coming. Although it took a while to get into the book, I did enjoy it and look forward to reading more about the band, the Steel brothers and their women, and Memphis and Tallia.
** I was provided an arc for a fair and honest review.**
