Book Review: Heart-Shaped Hacked by Tracey Garvis Graves

I absolutely loved this book! From the very beginning, I was smiling and laughing.  Ian had me swooning over him from the moment he was introduced and I don’t give the swoon-worthy title to many. I loved the hilarious and witty banter between the two characters and the sweet romance that left me smiling and my heart warm. This was the perfect feel good romance and weekend read! I believe I’ve found a new favorite author.  Surprisingly this is my first book by Tracey Garvis Graves and it will definitely not be my last.

Since this was my first book by Graves I was unsure what to expect. I’d been hearing great things about Heart-Shaped Hack and one of my good friends told me I had to read it. I informed her it was on my TBR list and she promptly informed me to hurry and read it because she knew I’d love it.  So what did I do? I read it of course and now I’m so happy I’ve found an author who wrote a beautiful romance without all the drama. I’m not saying it’s all rainbows and roses because there was a moment when I thought my heart literally stopped, but that only made the book all that more sweet.

I was sucked in from the very beginning from the way the author introduced the hero.  Ian was intriguing from the start when he wouldn’t give up his last name.

Kate, who had quit her job as a lawyer and was now running a food pantry, was desperate for money and didn’t want to let down the families who had come to rely on her services.  She talked her ex-boyfriend into letting her go on the air and plead her case asking for donations.  Little did Kate know that it would change her life forever.

At the end of the month, a mysterious donor brought in a large donation but before anyone could thank him properly, he ran away.  The same thing happened again the next month and the next. Kate was determined to catch him in the act. What she didn’t expect was a six-foot-four, gorgeous man who has a hacker and thought of himself as a modern-day Robin Hood.

At first, Kate saw Ian as a bad guy who frequently did illegal activity and didn’t want to get involved with him. Ian seemed to have no sense of boundaries and was quite cocky, but he soon won her over with his charm even if he wouldn’t tell her his last name, or give her his phone number.

“I was thinking just the other day about how I kind of miss that cocky, over the top, wildly inappropriate man I first met. But then you go and say something like that and I think, Oh… there he is.”

When I read the last words The End I was sad that the book was over but hit to read the next page hoping for more. Although there was no more of the story there was an author’s note that made the smile that I was already wearing spread.  There will be more as Ian and Kate’s lives continue in White-Hot Hack and I cannot wait to read more of them! While I wait impatiently, I will read Graves other books.
