Under My Skin starts off right where book 2 ended and takes you for a ride that you will not want to stop. I couldn’t put my kindle down. There was none stop action, and drama until the very last chapter. And because it’s a J. Kenner book there’s plenty of passion between Jackson and Sylvia. How could there not be with a man like Jackson Steele?
With Reed dead, Sylvia was stuck asking herself if Jackson had killed him or not. He definitely had the motive. First to protect Sylvia from the pictures Reed had threatened to expose if she didn’t convince Jackson to stop blocking the movie he wanted to make. A movie that would let everyone know the dark secrets that had been buried in Santa Fe and then bring scandal to an innocent little girl.
Not only was there the threat that Sylvia might lose Jackson, but also the resort that she’d worked so hard on. Someone was trying to sabotage all their hard work and get the investors to drop out. Who was trying to sabotage the resort? Was it personal against Sylvia, Jackson, or Damien?
In Say My Name Sylvia was still trying to cope with the demons from her childhood and the loss of control of her life back then. I wouldn’t say she was weak, but by the end of Under My Skin, Sylvia has learned so much about herself and she’s stronger than she ever knew. Now she could get through her problems without all the coping mechanisms that she had used for years and Jackson was responsible for showing her that strength.
The epilogue was perfect and I rarely think an epilogue is perfect. All the drama and the little bit of angst from the story had finally been settled and Jackson and Sylvia were finally getting their happily ever after with their friends and family. I do hope that we will get to see more of Jackson and Sylvia along with Damien and Nikkie in J. Kenner’s other books. They are always a joy to read. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Kenner comes up with next.
** I was provided an arc for a fair and honest review. **
