Book Review: Filthy Beautiful Forever by Kendall Ryan

Filthy Beautiful Forever is Collins Drake’s story.  Throughout the series, we’ve seen that he’s the more serious of the Drake brothers having taken a lot of responsibility after their mother died when they were young. Through his brothers’ eyes, we’ve seen that he seems quite unhappy in his relationship with his girlfriend of three years.

Collins Drake exercises control over all facets of his life. From his business, to satisfying his physical needs … it all happens on his command.

What happens when his childhood best friend, Mia shows up unexpectantly on his doorstep?

When both Collins and Mia were ten they pinky swore that if neither of them were married by the time they were thirty they’d get married.  At the age of fifteen, the night before Mia moves away, Mia asked Collins to take her virginity.  Something that he’s felt guilty about since the night it happened.

After not talking for fifteen years, Mia comes back into his life reminding Collins about their marriage pact, after losing her job and not knowing what to do with her life. He was her first everything. First love, her best friend, and the boy she gave her virginity to.

“We can’t just pinky swear and then live happily ever after.”

Collins cannot believe that the beautiful woman standing in front of him is the same skinny girl from years before.  After catching up, he invites her to stay with him for a few days.

Mia doesn’t know what to think when she finds out Collins has a live in girlfriend.  They hardly speak, look, or touch each other.  Whereas the sexual tension is palpable between the two of them.  Collins is afraid to be alone with her with how badly he wants her and knowing she will willingly give in.  He needs to figure out what he wants in his life. Does he stay with the woman he’s been with for three years but been drifting away from and try to make it work or does he go with the one person who truly knows him and can read from him what no one else can, the woman who can make him laugh, relax, and have fun again?

With each book in this series, I fell in love with the Drake brothers.  I’m going to miss them.  The epilogue was a wonderful insight as to what all their lives will be like. All the books are very quick reads but they don’t feel rushed or make you feel as if anything is missing. I read all four of them in two days and I have a bit of a book hangover now that I know I’m done and there wouldn’t be any more books about them.

This series was my first experience with Kendall Ryan but I will definitely be reading her other books.  I was easily sucked into all the books and the stories of Colton, Pace, and Collins and unable to sit my kindle down.  They have everything you want in a book. You have your drama, hot sex, Alpha men who can show their sweet side, and very little angst.
