Wow! Let me tell you when I first started reading Changing Course, the first book in the Wrecked and Ruined series, I never thought I would like Sarah Erickson. By the end of the second book, Stolen Course, I didn’t hate her anymore. And by the end of Broken Course, I loved her just as much as the rest of the characters in the Wrecked and Ruined series and seeing her with Leo just felt right.
I was a little hesitant to read this series when I had heard it was angsty, but trust me Aly doesn’t draw it out throughout her books, she give you just enough to make the story powerful. I actually read Amongst the Echoes first. At the end of it is when we first see Leo meet Sarah. I knew nothing about her at that point but to read Broken Course, you must read Changing Course and Broken Course to know the history of everyone involved. And what a history it is.
I don’t want to give anything away but both Sarah and Leo are broken. In the beginning, it seems as if Leo is the one helping Sarah move on from her troubled past, but in the end, they both helped each other. They were not perfect but together they made each other whole again.
You will not be able to put this book down along with all the others in this series. Seriously that’s all I did during this Thanksgiving holiday. Aly can seriously suck you into each and every book she writes with her perfect mixture of drama, romance, mystery, humor, emotion, and steamy sex scenes. She has made her way as one of my favorite writers and I hope she becomes yours as well.
Although I’m sad that this is the last book in the series, I couldn’t have asked for anything more in an epilogue and if you’ve read any of my reviews before I am normally disappointed by most epilogues. In this case, I didn’t want to let these characters go but Aly gives us a great epilogue where we get to see everyone (Sarah, Leo, Brett, Jesse, Erica, Slate, Emma, and Caleb) twelve years in the future when Liv (I fell in love with that sweet little girl at the end of the book.) is graduating. I loved seeing where everyone’s lives were and all of their kids. I cannot recommend this book or series enough.
